ביום הראשון: טסים מתל אביב – לאתונה – ומשם טיסת המשך ליואנינה. Yoanina airport . שוכרים רכב בשדה התעופה לחמישה ימים. הטיסה מגיעה בצהריים בדרך כלל. משם עולים להרים בנסיעה מיואנינה בכביש 20, צפונה לכיוון הכפר פפיגו. עצירה ראשונה בכפר מונודנדרי - Monodedri.

במונודנדרי – יוצאים לטיול רגלי למנזר/קפלה אגיה-פרסקבי, ממנה תצפית על הקניון העמוק באירופה-הויקוס. Vicos . היציאה היא ממרכז הכפר למסלול של שעה הלוך וחזור. בכפר מסעדה מקומית טובה.

ממונודנדרי יש מסלולים רבים ראו בהמשך. ניתן לרדת לקניון וללכת לאורכו עד הכפר ויסקוס – כחמש שעות הליכה. מסיימים בפר ויקוס, או בעוד שעה וחצי עליה לפפינגו.

ממונודנדרי ממשיכים בנסיעה דרך הכפר אריסטי ARISTI לפפינגו. מתמקמים אצל פפהאבנגלו. הצימר המושלם.

 

בימים הבאים יש הרבה אפשרויות לטיולים רגליים בשיטת ה"כוכב":

 

• טיול רגלי למיקרו פפינגו – בעליה. בדרך, בעיקול הנחל בריכות – פוטיסטרס, לאחר השתכשכות באחת מהברכות ממשיכים אל הכפר. הכפר מיקרו פאפינגו (Mikro Papingo): פאפינגו הקטן, הוא כפר ציורי ומאוד קטן, מנותק מהסביבה למרות שניכרת השפעת התיירות. אפשר גם לעלות עם הרכב ולהתחיל את המסלול הפוך בירידה. יש חנייה מסודרת ליד הכנסייה. סמטאות הכפר צרות ובחלקן לא ניתן להיכנס עם רכב. יש בכפר צימרים.

 

• טיול לאורך נהר האאוס Aoos. יורדים עם הרכב מהכפר פפיגו אל הווידומטיס. מהברכות הצלולות והקרות שליד הגשר מתחיל מסלול הליכה רגלי יפה לאורך הנהר עד קרוב לעיירה קוניצה. בדרך מנזר קטן. גשר עותומני גדול וציורי מציין את סיום המסלול. בערך שעתיים כל כיוון.

 

• מסלול טיול מהכפרים מיקרו פפיגו – דרך מגלו פפיגו למטה לקניון הויקוס. (מסיימים בחניון הדולבים והגשר העתיק, בחנייה, וניתן להשאיר שם רכב). בקניון הויקוס המים זורמים והגבים מלאים. יש פינות צל לפיקניק. משך הטיול כ 4 עד 6 שעות תלוי כמה מבלים תוך כדי הטיול.

 

• מהכפר ויסקוס לקניון– ירידה תלולה לקניון וחזרה באותה דרך בעליה תלולה. בקצה הירידה יש גבי ענק ופינות נהדרות לפיקניק. שעה כל כיוון. קחו בגדי ים להתרחץ בגבים.

 

• טיול רגלי של יום שלם: לרכס אסטרקה Papingo to Mt Gamila Refuge and Dragon Lake. מתחילים לעלות ממיקרו פפיגו. העליה לבקתה באוכף אורכת כשלוש שעות. הנוף מהמם. משם אפשר לרדת חזרה או ביום יפה לאחר ארוחת צהריים ומנוחה קלה להמשיך את הטרק לאגם הדרקון – "דרקולימני".

 

• טיול של יומיים בקיץ: מתחילים כמו טיול מספר 5. מהאגם הדרקון חוזרים ללינה בבקתת אסטרקה (כ- 6 שעות הליכה). למחרת עוזבים את הבקתה ויורדים במסלול יפה ותלול לכיוון ערוץ האאוס. בסיום הירידה הארוכה מגיעים אל המנזר – סטורמיו. מכאן לאורך ערוץ האאוס עד לעיירה קוניצה. או חזרה לוידיומטיס. 7 שעות הליכה ביום השני. אפשר שבקוניצה ימתין הרכב, או תיאום חזרה במונית לפפיגו.

• בקוניצה – אפשר למצוא חברות של רפטינג בתקופה שהנהר בויקוס גועש.

STONE BRIDGES IN ZAGORI 

 

. The Voidomatis or Kleidonia bridge: This bridge is located near the Kleidonia village, some hundred meters away from the new Voidomatis bridge on the National Road connecting Ioannina to Konitsa/ It is a big one-arch stone bridge built in 1853 by Missios.

 

. The Kamber Aga bridge

This bridge is very close to the Miliotades village in east Zagori and its construction was financed by Kamber Agas in 1875. It is a well-preserved stone bridge, not very tall with a big arch in the middle and two small openings on the two sides.

 

.The Kondodimos bridge or Lazaridis bridge (old Vikaki bridge): When driving from West (coming from Dilofo) you can visit this bridge just some meters before entering the

Kipi village. The bridge connects the two riverbanks of the Vikaki stream. Built in 1753, the bridge took its name from Kondodimos, the man who donated the money for the construction. Starting from here you can reach the Koukouli village following a beautiful path.

 

The Missios bridge: Situated between the villages of Koukouli and Vitsa, the Missios bridge was constructed in 1748. Missios from Monodendri was the man who financed the construction and so the bridge was named after him. It was built to allow access from Koukouli to Vitsa and vice versa. This path offers one of the most popular walks in Zagori. On this trail you will find well-preserved stone steps forming part of the path.

 

The Milos bridge: You will find the Milos bridge on your right hand driving from Kipi to Fragades not far from the Kipi village. It took its name from a nearby existing watermill. Built in 1748 over the Bagiotiko stream, the bridge allowed people living in Kipi to visit the mill and their fields. It has two arches and a much smaller one.

 

The Noutsos or Kokkoros bridge: Following the road to Kapesovo and Tsepelovo before the village of Kipi this beautiful bridge is known by the two mentioned names. It connects the two riversides of the Bagiotiko stream just before it joins the Xeropotamos stream. It is the most visited bridge of Zagori as it is just close to the national road but also one of the most impressive ones. Build in 1750, it was named after Noutsos Kondodimos a rich Vradeto villager, who donated the money for the construction. The name of Kokkoros came in 1910 when the Koukouli villager Kokkoros, owner of the nearby mill financed the renovation of the bridge.

Plakidas bridge: Situated just before the entrance to the Kipi village, on your right hand and in a lower level compared to the National Road leading to the village. It is a three arches bridge, the most famous bridge of the Zagori area connecting the to riverbanks of the Bagiotiko stream. Built in 1748, the bridge was renovated in 1863 with the support of the Plakidas brothers.

Starting from Tsepelovo, descend to the Vikos Gorge, at the point marked by the "Paliogefira" stone building. After Kipi and Koukouli you cross the "Misiou" bridge and climb the Vitsa stairs (3hrs.) to reach Vitsa and Monodendri. In summer, a quick dip in the crystal clear waters of the Voidomatis springs will refresh you for the steep ascent to the villages of Papigko.

Starting from Megalo Papigko you can follow an ascend along the flanks of Mt. Astraka en route to the Mountain Refuge. At 2100m. the refuge located on a beautiful ridge between two valleys, affords some of the most spectacular views of the Pindus Mountains ( 4 1/2 hours). You can either rest around the Hellenic Alpine Club Hut, or carry on your hike further up to the beautiful Dragon Lake (Drakolimni), before returning to Papigko. Alpine newts Triturus Alpestris lives here and gives the name of the lake a deeper meaning. In Spring, the mountain meadows are a mass of colour with crocus, orchids and gentians.

Starting from Monodendri

hike along the rim of the Vikos Gorge to the monastery of Agia Paraskevi and explore the impressive fortifications

walk along to the stone trail to Kipi and the famous triple arched Kipi bridges.

descend into the Vikos Gorge one of the most interesting geological formations in Europe. Walk along the river (filled with trout), below the Astraka massif. (Duration 6-7 hrs).

From Tsepelovo follow a long abandoned stone-paved trail through small villages and continue to the famous Kipi bridges -4-5hrs

Visit the Vlacho village of Vovoussa - one of the most remote villages in all of Greece. Greek is the language in this unique area, but the locals also speak the local Vlahika language.
